american royalty.

i just finished the eight part miniseries "the kennedys" on netflix last night. i've alway admired jackie's style and been intrigued by the kennedy's seemingly perfect lives, before jfk's life was cut too short. after watching the miniseries, starring greg kinnear and katie holmes, i learned about how many challenges the entire kennedy clan faced from their childhoods to when the entered politics. but most of all, they were a family that always stood by each other, and looked good while they did it. my favorite looks is their casual everyday, nantucket outfits. sophisticated, classy, graceful. true american royalty.

this girl can do no wrong.

jenna lyons, the president and executive creative director of j.crew, is my fashion role model. luxury and casual, feminine and masculine, she is the perfect mix of preppy and everything in between. whether pairing sequins with stripes, a cozy sweater with a feather skirt for the met gala or all denim with a mint chanel bag, jenna oozes my definition of everyday glamour.

i do tuesday: monograms

on this" i do tuesday," i'm sharing some of my favorite ways to incorporate you and your husbands initials or monogram for your wedding. i'm obsessed with monograms and i know when i get married it will be everywhere! but my boss just taught me an important rule about monograms and weddings -  it's bad luck and etiquette to use your new monogram until after the ceremony! thats why i love the idea of wearing your new monogram during the reception (like seen above!)

every monday i'm going to share my manicure of the week. this weeks manicure is o.p.i.'s "passion" with deborah lippmann's "shake your groove thing" on top.

DIY: Cupcake Bouquets

i'm spending memorial day weekend with my sorority sisters, best friends & former roomies in ann arbor this weekend. it's also the hostess of the weekend, julia's birthday and i had to come with a fun gift for both her birthday and thanking for her being the perfect hostess. look in my next post for more photos from the weekend!

i found this craft on 52 kitchen adventures and thought it was so cute and perfect for this weekend. the step by step guide is so easy and to make it my own, i used flower cupcake liners and painted the pots with julia's monogram. monogram & cupcakes, of course, my two favorite things. they turned out great and can't wait to make them again for a future event!

chevron crazed.

as you can tell by my background for "everyday glamour," my favorite pattern currently is chevron. that's why i was so excited when this dress arrived yesterday at my mom's clothing store Cherry Hill Boutique. of course, i had to snatch it up. whether for home, beauty or dress, i love how chevron is the perfect mix between vintage and modern, feminine and masculine.

bountiful bookcases.

i love homes that showcase the personal items in their lives. framed old photos, books that have been favorite reads, or family heirlooms that have been passed down generation to generation. i love the tips emily schuman from one of my favorite blogs cupcakes and cashmere, gives on how to arrange your bookshelves. my dream house will have full bookcases of all of my favorite things, like my collection of vogues, a gold piggy bank from my grandparents house, and my favorite photos of my sister and i as kids.

the colors inside.

since coming home from school for the summer, i've noticed how each room of my house brings upon a different feeling due to its colors. its so nice to come home to a house full of color instead of white walls that covered my bedroom walls at school. so here's a peek inside the rooms of my house.

our main floor bathroom. crisp green walls feel clean and fresh.

my bedroom. lavender walls are the perfect soothing color to fall asleep in.

my sister and i's bathroom. tiffany blue feels bright and feminine.

bright yellow fills our family room and kitchen. its warm and inviting and so cheerful to come home to.
hot pink and orange fill up my sisters room. its fun and bright and with a chandelier too, its our friends favorite spot to hang out.

i do tuesday - each bridesmaid its own.

i've been planning my wedding since i was seven. being a flower girl five times, i was always intrigued by that big day and all the details that goes into planning a wedding. for the last two summers, i have been fortunate enough to intern for an amazing event planning and design company where i get to see all the steps to create that once in a lifetime day. my new weekly blog post will share my inspirations and insights that i've learned being "behind-the-scenes" of that big day.

my first "i do tuesday" i am sharing one of my new favorite wedding trends. i love each bridesmaid having a different color dress in the same wedding color palette. i also love the mixing of textures & patterns.

mad for mad men.

about a month ago, i started watching mad men on netflix and i couldn't stop. 4 weeks later, i've watched all 4 seasons and caught up on the current episodes too. there's so many aspects of the show that drew me in and has made me a fan. being an advertising major, i love seeing how advertisement firms were run in the 60s, and most of all, i love the fashion. betty, megan, peggy, trudie & joan's style of chic office wear, perfect party dresses and sophisticated accessories are the items i'm dying to try in my life.

moments captured.

with one of my first blog posts, i didn't think i would be writing with a heavy heart. my grandma hill passed away two weeks ago and this weekend all those that loved her gathered in saugatuck, mi to remember & celebrate her. the weekend however, was still full of sunshine, lake michigan & the things that made going to grandparents lake house so special.

dipping my freshly painted "you're a pisa work" by OPI toes  in  lake michigan on the hot 90 degree day.

so thankful for my best friend leslie coming too for the weekend. in our typical lake weekend uniform of j. crew shorts.

also so grateful for my second family coming.

a game of beach baseball in lake michigan with the uncles & cousins.

grandma's favorite, yellow roses.

and looking through old photos all weekend. my ultimate favorite picture of my grandparents, uncles & dad. the ultimate 70s glamour.
