best dressed.

nothing makes me more excited than award shows. its the perfect combination of my love for fashion & obsession with celebrities. this past sunday's emmy awards was full of glamour & i can't stop day-dreaming about these dresses!

jessica pare in jason wu.
the "mad men" star stood out with simplicity. chic white & black with finger waves & red lips are always on the best dressed list.

emily van camp in j. mendel.

the soft grey tulle & sheer peek-a-boos are youthful for the red carpet with tousled waves, perfect for tv's new it girl.

leslie mann in naeem khan.
a dress with pockets is always a favorite of mine. i love how leslie adds pops of turquoise & a top knot to complete the look.

ashley williams in oscar de la renta.
the emerald green & peplum make a perfect dress, but having the "girls" star where it? favorite red-carpet moment.

julie bowen in monique lhuillier.
the best supporting actress in a comedy winner could have won alone on just how amazing she looked sunday night! the neon yellow was the perfect pop of color on the red carpet!

zooey deschanel in reem acra.
one of the funniest girls in hollywood, looked like a modern day cinderella. the pastel dress with hot pink lips was a match made in red carpet heaven.

moments captured.

this weekend, i went to spend time with my best friends & sister in ann arbor for a weekend of fall fun & relaxation. this week is a busy, busy week so i'm already counting down the days again for the weekend! happy first week of fall!

cider mill treats & my favorite pillsbury halloween cookies.
amazing cuban dinner at frita batidos & fun finds at rock paper scissors in ann arbor.
the little things to get me through the week. a new sigma kappa lilly pulitzer tumbler & a mary-kate & ashley movie marathon.

oh happy day.

the last few weeks have not been the easiest for me. a lot of stress & life changes have happened, but with the support of my amazing friends & family to cheer me up, life is looking good. here's some of my other favorite things that are currently turning my frown upside down :)

the new normal.
nbc's new comedy "the new normal" is my new guilty pleasure. a brilliant cast, hilarious one-liners & a sweet message on a gay couple using a surrogate to carry their baby, this half-hour show created by ryan murphy of "glee" has me hooked.

ryan reynolds.
i've always been a fan of ryan reynolds but this recent paparazzi shot of him after his wedding to blake lively, wearing a spartan hat made me giddy. how can you not love that fellow spartans?! blake has it way too good.

lana del ray.
i'm a little late on this bandwagon, but there truly is no one cooler than lana del ray. smooth, sexy & different, she truly is an artist & her music videos are like mini movies, like this favorite of mine for "national anthem," a modern day kennedy family.

ashton & mila.
jackie & kelso together in real life?! enough said. insanely beautiful & hilarious, this couple should have been together years ago.

fall!
the temperatures have finally cooled down, so its finally time for puffy vests, scarves, riding boots, cider mill trips, & my favorite... pillsbury halloween cutout cookies!

let them eat cake!

one of my favorite parts about a party is the cake. whether served cupcake style or a giant wedding cake, its the perfect dessert that always screams party. however, i'm currently loving the "un-conviential" cakes made out of other sweet treats to surprise guests with. here's some of my favorite new ways via pinterest to celebrate sweetly.

oreo cake.
perfect for a sleepover, serve with cold glasses of milk for guests!

rice krispy cake.
on wedding weekends with lots of cake, try this for a rehearsal dinner or bachelorette party.

candy cake.
while this is an amazing centerpiece & dessert, i love bringing this as a birthday gift, all made out of the birthday guest's favorites!

donut cake.
for an after wedding brunch, serve everybody's favorite donuts with leftover wedding flowers tucked in.

macaron cake.
bright & cheerful, this macaron cake is great for when there's a lot of guests. easy grab & go sweet treat!

school spirit.

i'm lucky enough to go to one of the best universities in the country, with truly the best school spirit. tailgates are like christmas morning, & there is nothing i love more than planning a new green & white outfit every weekend to show off my spartan pride. i like trying unique ways of wearing green & white instead of a typical sweatshirt & jeans look. above are some of my past tailgate looks & here are some of my favorite chic pieces to cheer msu on to victory!

beauty.
these are always my game day necessities! green & white nails (i love using white as an accent nail) & a bow from american apparel are the perfect way to stay girly in the midst of football craziness.

clothes.
a favorite part of football season is the fall weather. a plaid flannel (like this one from topshop) paired with green jeans allow you to stand out in the midst of baggy sweatshirts, while still staying warm & cozy on colder game days.

shoes.
keeping your feet dry, but still chic is important in crowded stadiums. these brightly colored sperry top-sider's or hunter rain boots are the perfect options.

spring forward.

while i'm currently dying for the weather to cool down & break out the oversize sweaters & leather boots for fall, new york fashion week has me lusting over these cheerful spring looks. pastel colors, adorable details & light, airy fabrics are making me anxious for all that spring will bring! here are my some of my favorite looks so far!

alice + olivia.
watercolor print jackets, leather dresses & skirts, & feminine fits are perfect looks for at the office or a casual cocktail party.

j.crew.
quirky sweaters & tees are paired with silk pants, continuing the trend of mixing prints & patterns.

kate spade.
bows, bows & more bows were the theme at the spring 2013 presentation. nothing more girlier or chic than that.

oscar de la renta.
for those black tie events, ruffles, beading & stripes done in unique ways, like evening gowns & shorts, are effortlessly glamourous for spring.

and i'm back!

well after a few busy weeks of moving to school & sorority recruitment, i'm finally back to blogging! life has been a whirlwind of school, unpacking, catching up with friends, & sorority recruiting but i'm so happy to be back in east lansing! here's just some of the many photos i've captured the last few weeks & i'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things!

camp bonding & first day of school outfit.
night out with my loves & start of recruitment with my little.
pink short party & more lilly for a rainy day full of chocolate chip pancakes.
the roomie & i & our beautiful executive board!
all dolled up in our little black dresses for preference day & finally time to celebrate on bid day!
